The Discovery Corridor extends from the Fundy Isles Region of the lower Bay of Fundy across the northern Gulf of Maine, and has been situated with two objectives in mind: 1) maximize known information and 2) to traverse a variety of habitats. The area encompasses coastal areas, offshore banks, submarine canyons, and seamounts. In conceptual terms the corridor extends from the land-sea margin to abyssal plain depths of 6000m The corridor location was refined during 2004 through meetings of the Steering Committee, and in consultation with regional scientists.
