Draft Terms of Reference for CMB Technical Committee, Jan 25/05

Participants: Jerry Black - DFO, Patrice Boivin - DFO, Bob Branton - DFO, Jen Smith - WWF, Daniel Ricard - Dal,

The CMBTC will oversee operation and technical direction for the CMB website and CMB-BIO DiGIR provider service. Ongoing activities will include: monitor quality of posted data, examine website usage statisitics and encourage posting of new data collections. The CMBTC will report to the CMB executive, attempting to hold at least one meeting in advance of each CMB executive meeting.

Current Objectives:
1) migrate CMB website and data bases to a non-commercial host (e.g. BIO).
2) promote 'through the web content management' (e.g. Plone) as basis for CMB website.

Current action items:
1) post notes on CMB Plone mock-up (Bob)
2) become members on CMB Plone Mock-up (all)
3) replace databases on NetNation server with OBIS url links (Jerry),
4) post Bluefin migration plan on mock-up for review by committee memebers (Bob),
5) liaise with Lou Van Guelpen re. Gulf of Maine ODP/outreach (Bob),
6) ask Leslie Carter to add terms of use to present CMB site (Bob),
7) add terms of use to CMB Plone mockup (Bob),
8) create a plan for adoption of Plone to be presented to the CMB Exectutive.

Next meeting:
Early March – perhaps at Dal, hosted by Dan.  Another may be at St. Andrew’s in spring/summer.
