Mr. Stéphan LeBlanc (Student)

I completed an honours degree in marine and freshwater biology at Université de Moncton in 2004. Since then I worked on multiple research projects at Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Gulf Fisheries Center in Moncton . Through my academic and professional work I have gained experience in freshwater ecology, hydrology, marine fisheries ecology and marine biology. I have been involved in projects ranging from tagging Atlantic salmon to analyzing marine fish diets and participating in numerous research surveys. I plan to start a Master of Science degree in 2006 at the University of New Brunswick in Saint-Jean. Conditional on receiving the necessary funding, the project will involve studying the effect of scallop dredging on marine communities and physical habitats in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence . The main focus of my project will be to study the effect of fishing intensity on megafauna and infauna and the recovery time of harvested sites.
