Martin Willison is a full Professor at Dalhousie University, with a joint appointment in the Faculty of Science (Biology Department) and the Faculty of Management (School for Resource and Environmental Studies). Since 1989, he has taken a strong interest in marine protected areas, co-editing several books on the subject. More recently, his work has turned to the conservation of biogenic structure-forming benthic marine organisms, notably deep sea corals. His transdisciplinary interests include conservation philosophy, education and advocacy, and he works in association with a wide range of non-government environmental organizations.
