Leo Muise graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University in 1975. He began his career with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as a fishery officer. He worked in the fisheries legislation section in Ottawa and managed the DFO regulatory and licensing units in Halifax.
In 1997 Leo assumed his present position of Director of aquaculture for the Province of Nova Scotia. The primary interest areas of aquaculture research for the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries include fish health, aquaculture production, new species development, production engineering, and environmental assessment and monitoring.
