Kent Gilkinson received his B.Sc. In Biology from the University of Ottawa in 1979 and his M.Sc.. And Ph.D. degrees in Marine Ecology from Memorial University in 1984 and 1999 respectively. He has been a member of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans research group investigating the impacts of mobile bottom fishing gears on seabed habitat since 1992. This is a collaborative effort between scientists at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography and the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Centre. Dr. Gilkinson's research interests include effects of bottom fishing gears on benthic molluscs and their habitat and functional relationships between seabed habitat and demersal organisms.
