Dr. Douglas P. Swain (Fisheries Ecologist)

Dr. Swain (PhD, University of British Columbia, 1986) has worked with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans since 1987. Doug conducted postdoctoral work on the ecological genetics of coho salmon at the Pacific Biological Station, Nanaimo in 1987-1989. He has been at the Gulf Fisheries Centre in Moncton since 1989, where he has been in charge of the port sampling program and the annual ecosystem monitoring survey of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence . His research has focussed on factors affecting the population dynamics, habitat associations and geographic distribution of marine fishes.
