My name is Deanna Ferguson and I was originally born in Lethbridge, Alberta during the year of 1986. Subsequently, my family moved to Waterloo, Ontario where I was raised. My mother, father and sister currently reside in the growing city while after completing high school, I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to continue my education. I am currently enrolled at Dalhousie University in the Marine Biology programme where I wish to complete my honours upon graduation next year (2008). My completed courses include diversity of plants and animals, genetics, marine ecology, diversity of invertebrates, ecology and evolution of fishes and several oceanography related courses. I am beginning my honours research at the BIO under the supervision of Ellen Kenchington and am investigating the distribution of sea pens along the coasts of Atlantic Canada (more specifically, Nova Scotia). I am thoroughly intrigued by the wonders that are within the ocean and hope to continue my studies through to the graduate level. Enjoying the outdoors, I am active in camping, swimming, softball, skiing, hiking and canoeing. I look forward to joining and contributing to the team at the Centre for Marine Biodiversity.
