A Joint Project Agreement (JPA) was recently signed between DFO Oceans & Habitat Branch and the Atlantic Coastal Zone Information Steering Committee (ACZISC) to establish project management for the Coastal and Oceans Information Network Atlantic (COINAtlantic) over the coming 15 months.
Lou Van Guelpen and Bob Branton have just now released a Plone based website giving details of 2004-05 internship project by Erin Herder at the Atlantic Reference Centre. A TWO DAY Training Program designed for Plone Content Managers. The attendees will be able to create, evaluate and publish content such as Web Pages, New, Events, Documents and Photos. They will also be able to configure the Plone site and manage it on a day to day basis.
Towards a World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS). The WoRMS is to provide an authoritative and comprehensive list of names of marine organisms, including information on synonymy. While highest priority goes to valid names, other names in use are included so that this register can serve as a guide to interpret taxonomic literature.
Final Proceedings from Ocean Biodiversity Informatics 2007 Conference (OBI'07) now available from Canadian Stock Assessment Secretariate (CSAS) Website. This conference took place at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Oct 2007 and was attended by a wide range of individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including data managers, government, industry. The primary focus was on oral presentations followed by questions and panel discussions by specialists presently engaged in ocean biodiversity informatics. This report represents a summary of the presentations and discussion from the OBI ’07 conference.
