Mr. Andres Jaureguizar

Andres Jaureguizar received his PhD student from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). He holds a scholarship from the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas y Tecnicas (CONICET). His studies have been carried out in the Coastal Project of Instituto Nacional de Investigacion y Desarrollo Pesquero- INIDEP - Mar del Plata, Argentina (National Institute for Fisheries Research & Development). His doctoral research involves the interpretation of demersal fish populations to define fish assemblages and relate the spatial and temporal variability of those assemblages to environmental factors on the Argentina and Uruguay Coastal Shelf (34ºS- 41ºS). Previous ecological work has investigated the habitat preferences by age-classes of White croacker (Micropogonias furnieri) within the Rio de la Plata estuarine system, and the spatial and seasonal pattern of demersal fish assemblages on the Rio de la Plata estuary (South America). Recent research, as part of the POGO-Fellowship for training, involves the correspondence between the spatial and temporal pattern of fish assemblages and the environment on the Scotian Shelf. He is in the Science & Technology Youth Internship Program as an intern of the Fisherman and Scientists Research Society at the Marine Fish Division, Bedford Institute of Oceanography (Canada), under the supervision of Dr. K. Zwanenburg.
