Alicia McLean (BSc student, St. Francis Xavier University)
I am currently a third year honours biology student at St. Francis Xavier University. For the past year I have been working under the direction of Dr. David Garbary studying marine algae, in particular, intertidal fucoids. My current research deals with phenotypic plasticity in Ascophyllum nodosum and will be used as the basis for my undergraduate thesis. Specifically, I plan on studying variation in A. nodosum along environmental gradients on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean (Nova Scotia, Canada and Lochmaddy, Scotland).
