'Planning of Marine Tourism Development at Teluk Lada area, Banten with Geographic Information System Approach.'; M. Jafar Elly - Indonesia

Today, marine tourism is becoming an attention of Banten province government. One of area that can be developed as an marine tourism site is the Teluk Lada, located in Pandeglang district. This large potency motivate the local government to develop an integrated marine tourism at the area. This research uses Geographic Information System (GIS) in the development planning of marine tourism area. The aim of this research is to design a spatial database as a basic to plan and develop marine tourism including nature conservation aspects and to make a zonation of marine tourism activity. Physical oceanography data, coral reef distribution and coastal distance were analyzed with Inverse Distance Weight Interpolation method and distance analysis method. Other data such as image satellite, RBI map and LPI map were also processed to make the zonation maps of marine tourism. The result of the analysis showed that there were several zone at Teluk Lada that could be used for marine tourism activities, such as diving and snorkeling at Tanjung Lesung, Lewungan island and Popole island, swimming and drying at Cibungur, Labuan and Tanjung Lesung beach. The implementation of Geographic Information System in the planning of marine tourism area can become one of the best alternative to make a decision for local government and marine tourism industries in Banten Province, Indonesia Keywords : marine tourism, GIS, planning
