HMAP is an interdiscipliry research program using historical archives and environmental information to analyze marine population data before and after human impacts on the ocean became significant. Since 2000, more than a 100 HMAP researchers have fostered advances in scientific and historical methodology that have enabled researchers to enhance knowledge and understanding of mankind’s interaction with the marine environment since the earliest of times.
