Guidance for Presenters

Guidelines and information requirements for presenters at the OBI'07 Conference.

General

- oral presentations are restricted to 12 minutes with 3 minutes for questions

- Before Sep 26th, presenters are to provide an extended abstract and biography (lead author only) to Victoria Clayton (ClaytonV@mar.dfo-mpo.gc.ca).

- On the morning of Oct 2nd (or prior to the workshop), presenters are to provide an electronic copy of their presentation to the OBI'07 organizing committee (contact will be identified at the registration desk, or ClaytonV@mar.dfo-mpo.gc.ca).    

- Presenters are to identify themselves to their session chairs before the start of each session for further instructions.  Facilitators will be identified in the registration material and will be posted on the conference webiste. 

Extended Abstracts

- should include a descriptive title, list of authors and their affiliations

- should be approximately 250-500 words (1/2 to 1 page single spaced)

- should be clear and understandable to readers in other disciplines

- should avoid jargon, abbreviations and acronyms where possible (ensure that acronyms are explained on first use)

- may include 1-2 figures, tables or graphs (jpg, gif or other scalable formats preferred)

- may include references using "(Last name et al., year)" format; full citations should be included at the end of the abstract)

Biographies

- should be 100-200 words

- should include full name and affiliation

- can include a picture, email address, or other contact information
